Have you noticed anything changing on your skin or any unusual moles?
Either way, I encourage you to watch this short video that I recorded while walking to my Dermatologist:
Enjoy and remember to wear your sunscreen!
Thanks, Paul
Which time zone does your mind inhabit mostly - the past, the future, or the present?
Are you always on the hunt for the next accomplishment or big thrill and do you overlook the present moment as your mind races towards the future?
I recently listened to Garrett McNamara, an 8-time record holder for surfing the largest wave, discuss the power of mindfulness. While I'm not a surfer, I can relate to the sensation of being "in the barrel." McNamara draws a parallel between the intense enjoyment of entering in this space and the simultaneous anticipation of the next wave.
By embracing movement and mindfulness, I've experienced a significant boost in my ability to enjoy the moment. When I'm walking for more than an hour at a time, my mind becomes focused on the beauty around me.
Now, I'm engaged on a mission to walk 1,000 miles, with the goal of reigniting this cognitive power and I am trying to do something to support my friends who have been affected by melanoma.
I chose to raise $100,000 for the Melanoma Research Alliance for the following reasons:
- Since 2007, MRA has provided over $150 million in funding to 415 grant awards to support lifesaving melanoma research.
- When MRA was founded in 2007, research was stagnant and there were no new treatments available. Today, there are 16 FDA approved treatments – a quantum leap that is almost unheard of in oncology.
- Despite this incredible progress, melanoma continues to be the deadliest form of skin cancer -- an estimated 100,000 people will be diagnosed with melanoma in the United States this year alone.
In both surfing and life, we need to savor the waves but not become entranced by them. "There's room in your life for something else. Let go of the monkey on your back and fully experience each moment."
As we embark on this journey together, let's remember to stay present, to enjoy the ride, and to make a difference where we can. Let's make every step count.
